Form 1027, Application for Automatic Extension of Time to File a Delaware Individual Income Tax Return

You can obtain an automatic 5 and a half month extension of time to file your DE state tax return (not pay any taxes owed). Simply complete and file Form 1027 by the DE state tax return deadline, April 30, 2017. You do not have to file Form 1027 if the tax balance due is zero or less and you filed a federal tax return extension.

Delaware state tax return extensions can be efiled from March 1 to April 30, 2017.
If you have a balance due on your Form 200-01, 200-02, or 200-03 AND you're efiling your DE state tax return, submit your payment with a complete Form 200-V (Electronic Filer Payment Voucher).
Complete and submit Form 1027 (if you owe tax and did not file federal extension)

DE Income Tax:

Individual income is taxed across seven tax brackets at seven graduated tax rates.

  • No tax rate for the first $2,000
  • 2.2% for taxable incomes between $2,001 and $5,000
  • 3.9% for taxable incomes between $5,001 and $10,000
  • 4.8% for taxable incomes between $10,001 and $20,000
  • 5.2% for taxable incomes between $20,001 and $25,000
  • 5.55% for incomes between $25,001 and $60,000
  • 6.75% for taxable incomes above $60,000

DE Sales Tax:

Delaware does not impose a sales tax on consumers.

However, the state does have a sales tax on the gross receipts of most businesses. The tax rates range from 0.1037% to 2.0736%, depending on the type of business.
