Description
Additional Information
Create an account with the Ohio Tax Department's Online Services to submit your payment. New users can create an account by providing their most recently filed and accepted Ohio tax return. Existing users just need to log in and select "ePayment." Your chosen payment will typically be withdrawn within 24 hours, so ensure you have sufficient funds in your bank account on that date. Don't worry, payments can be delayed until the actual due date if needed. Your bank statement will clearly show "STATE OF OHIO" for the submitted payment, making it easy to track.
Check the status of your direct payment
This is a free option if you want to pay your taxes owed via your bank account.
Submit a tax payment through the Official Payments site. When you're on the site, select either the "Personal Income Tax Return - Filing Individually" or the "Personal Income Tax Return - Filing Jointly" option, then follow the on-screen prompts to enter and submit your payment and personal information (e.g. Payment Amount, Credit/Debit type, SSN, Tax Year, Form Type, etc). You need the following information on hand to submit your payment:
1) Ohio jurisdiction code (6446);
2) Your SSN (and your spouse's SSN if making a joint payment);
3) The tax year for your payment;
4) Your credit or debit card number and expiration date;
5) School district number (if submitting a school district income tax payment). Your payment will take effect on the date you authorize it, so you cannot select a future date nor can you reverse the action. If you reverse the payment later, you may face penalties, interest, and other fees. You will receive a confirmation number once you submit your payment, so keep this number for your tax records.
Use this payment option if you want to pay your tax payment via your credit or debit card. You will either be charged a convenience fee equal to 2.5% of your payment or $1 (whichever is greater). The Ohio state tax agency does not receive this fee. You'll see the payment as two separate entries: one for the payment and another for the convenience fee.
Check or Money Order with Form IT-40P
Complete voucher Form IT-40P and attach it to your check or money order payable to "Ohio Treasurer of State". Write the last four digits of your Social Security number and the tax payment period on the "Memo" line of the check. Mail them to the Form IT 40P address below.
Use this payment option if you wish to submit your payment via check or money order in the mail.
Estimated Tax Payment Options
Choose one of these options: 1) Create an account with Ohio Tax Agency Online Services. You can either authorize up to four estimated Ohio income tax payments or up to four estimated school district income payments in one transaction. At the end of each transaction, click the "Make another payment" button to submit the next transaction. You'll receive a separate confirmation number for each transaction to verify your payment, and you keep each confirmation number for your records.
2) Pay only school district estimated payments via credit or debit card to the Ohio tax agency's bank account. (choose the "School District Income Tax Estimated Payment (SD 100ES)" options). Be aware that a service fee is added to each payment you submit with your card.
3) Complete voucher Form IT-1040ES (for individual income taxes) or Form SD 100ES (for school district income taxes).Attach a check or money order for the tax period payable to "Ohio Treasurer of State" (individual income tax) or "School District Income Tax" (school district income tax) Write the last four digits of your Social Security number and the tax payment period on the "Memo" line of the check. Mail them to the Form IT-1040ES or SD- 100ES address here.
Use one of these payment options if you want to submit estimated taxes rather than submit all your taxes owed at once.
Many of these online IRS tax payment options can be used before or after you e-Filed your Income Taxes. You can pay tax extension and tax estimate payments. For estimate payments, you do not have to submit a form. Extension you can eFile on eFile.com for free.
These payment options are independent from you preparing and eFiling your tax returns on eFile.com. eFile.com offers these payment options for the convenience of all tax payers.
