Problem: The IRS—not eFile.com—has rejected your return, as the Social Security Number (SSN) of the spouse has been used on another return accepted by the IRS.
Solution: Please sign in to your eFile.com account now and click on My Return in the upper left and review the IRS message on the right.
1. Sign in: https://mytaxes.efile.com/1040/SignIn/
2. Click on Name & Address and verify the SSN of the spouse on your return. If the SSN is indeed correct, please ask your spouse if a return was already filed under this SSN. If not, you can mail them in if you wish. Here is the IRS mailing address: https://www.efile.com/irs-mailing-addresses/
For state addresses please visit: https://www.efile.com/state-income-tax-returns/
You should however contact the IRS or the Social Security Admininistration (ssa.gov) about this issue if no return was filed under the SSN.
