IL Tax Return Rejection Code ILHEADER-9800-5

Problem: The Illinois Department of Taxation, Revenue is asking you to make a correction on your IL Tax Return.

Solution: Please sign in to your eFile.com account now and review the messages on the right side page.

1. Sign in: https://mytaxes.efile.com/1040/SignIn/

2. Then click on State Taxes on the left and on the right side the small blue link: I'd like to see the forms I've filled out or search for a form then select the state in question and edit the form.

3. Click on IL and the down arrow on the right and review Form IL 1040. Please adjust the secondary or spouse's Social Security Number (SSN), as the first four characters of the last name do not match IL records from prior year returns. Verify the SSN and name entered. Then re-efile at no additional charge.

If the SSN and first four characters of the last name are correct, you must file a paper return and attach a copy of the secondary taxpayer Social Security card to the paper return. If a name change was due to a court petition, attach a copy of the documentation received from the court showing the approved name change.
