2023 Form 1040 Schedule 2 - Additional Taxes

Some common reasons for using Schedule 2 include:

  1. Additional Taxes: If you owe additional taxes that aren't reported on the main Form 1040, you may need to use Schedule 2 to provide details on the amount and the type of tax owed.

  2. Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT): If you are subject to the Alternative Minimum Tax, you may need to use Schedule 2 to calculate and report the additional tax liability.

  3. Excess Advance Premium Tax Credit Repayment: If you received advance payments of the Premium Tax Credit to help cover the cost of health insurance through the Marketplace and need to repay some or all of those payments, you may use Schedule 2.
