Earned Income Tax Credit, EITC
The Earned Income Tax Credit or EITC for Tax Year 2018 is a
refundable tax credit aimed at helping families with low to moderate earned income. If you work, let the EITC work for you! The Earned Income Tax Credit will reduce the taxes you owe and will even be refunded to you if you do not owe taxes on your return. The credit lifts over 6 million people (including over 3 million children) out of poverty each year. Compare this with the list of unearned income types
