Form 500X: Georgia Amended Individual Income Tax Return
The 500X form, also known as the Georgia Amended Individual Income Tax Return, is used to amend (correct or change) a previously filed 500 or 500EZ Georgia Individual Income Tax Return.
When to Use Form 500X?
- You discovered an error after filing your original return, such as miscalculating income, deductions, or credits.
- You received additional income after filing, such as a late W-2 form.
- You need to claim additional deductions or credits you weren't aware of when you filed originally.
- The GA DOR notified you of a discrepancy in your return.
What You'll Need to File Form 500X?
- Original tax return (Form 500 or 500EZ) you are amending.
- Supporting documentation for any changes you are making.
How to File Form 500X?
Step 1: Download and complete Form 500X (Attached Below).
Step 2: Attach all supporting documentation to your amended return.
Step 3: Mail the completed form and documentation to the address provided on the form.
Important Notes To Remember About Form 500X:
- You can amend your Georgia return for three years from the original due date (including extensions) of the return you are amending.
- There are penalties and interest charges for late filing or underpayment of taxes.
- You cannot electronically file Form 500X.
