The advance Child Tax Credit payments were signed into law as a part of the American Rescue Plan Act in 2021. The tool below is to only be used to help you determine what your 2021 monthly advance payment could have been. Any advance child tax credit payments need to be reported on a 2021 IRS Tax Return. Important: You will not have qualified for these advance Child Tax Credit payments if any of the following applies to you:

  • Have lived or resided in the U.S. in total for less than half a year during 2021
  • Do not have a valid U.S. SSN or Social Security Number.

If you have not yet filed a 2020 Tax Return or generally don't file taxes at all, you can file your 2020 Return if you need to claim Stimulus 1 and/or 2. You can no longer receive the advance payments through 2021 - claim your full credit amount by e-filing a 2021 Return in 2022.
