CA Tax Return Rejection Code SCHCA/NR-170

Problem: The State of California—not eFile.com—rejected your return because there is a problem with Schedule CA 540.

Solution: Sign into your eFile.com account and click on My Return in the upper left for more detailed information on the lower right side on how to correct this:

Schedule CA (540, Part II or 540NR, Part III), Line 8d, column (A), (B) and (C) [MortgageInsurancePremiums] must be equal to zero if present.

Schedule CA (540, Part II or 540NR, Part III), Line 8d, column (A), (B) and (C) [MortgageInsurancePremiums] must be equal to zero if present.

Schedule CA (540, Part II or 540NR, Part III), Line 10, column (B) [TotalInterestPaid] must equal to Line 9 [InvestmentInterest].

You can make the changes under the State Taxes tab.

Click on File on the left side and go through the checkout again. After you have made the correction, you can re-eFile your Returns at no additional charge as often as needed.
