How to access my tax return or account on eFile.com?

When you use eFile.com each year, it is simple to download a copy of your current and previous year returns. If you are new to eFile.com, sign up here to create a free account and start preparing your tax return.

Already a user? Sign in to your existing eFile.com account.

As you prepare, you are entering tax data and answering tax questions. With this information, the eFile Tax App will create a tax return PDF file for your review. The PDF file will have a watermark until you have checked out and e-Filed your tax return. At any point, you can view a copy of your return based on what is entered.

To see a preview of your current return:

• Click on Federal Taxes on the left side before selecting the Review tab. You will see a green link there which reads Free Return Preview.
• Or, you can click on My Account in the upper right at any point and you will see your current tax return PDF file and, if applicable, previous year tax returns. For example, you may see:
  • 2022 Tax Year | In progress
  • 2021 Tax Year | e-filed 03/20/2022
  • 2020 Tax Year | e-filed 03/15/2021
  • I'd like to view a working copy of my return - this option shows you your return if you make any changes. For example, if you filed your 2022 Return and it was accepted, the 2022 PDF up top would not change since it was accepted. However, any changes made will be shown in the working copy here.

To view a PDF, click the blue PDF icon next to the name of the return you wish to view. When attempting to open the PDF, be sure that your Internet browser does not have a pop-up blocker, ad blocker, or anything that may prevent the document from displaying properly. Additionally, see how to open the document on certain devices that may show up blank. From there, you can view, download, and print your return. We recommend keeping a copy for your own records once you have e-filed that way you have the same copy that was sent to the IRS.

We store completed tax returns for 7 years for existing and repeat customers. The three most recent years of PDF files are stored in under My Account - if you need an earlier return you filed with eFile.com, contact us.
